First Mansfield Film Festival reveals awards jury

Posted onPosted on 17th Jun

This July, Mansfield will become a hub for filmmakers from all over the world to celebrate independent film.

From 14th to 16th July Mansfield Palace Theatre will be transformed for Mansfield Town Film Festival, the first event of its kind in the town’s history.

Attendees can enjoy 12 strands of independent short films, from documentaries, to animations, international shorts, to working class voices, Mansfield Town Film Festival promises three days of electric programming, and fresh perspectives.

The festival will conclude with the first Mansfield Film Awards, hosted by BBC Radio Nottingham’s Verity Cowley, a chance to celebrate all the talent shown at the festival, and reward the chosen few with a Manny award.

The festival has recently announced its jury line-up, a diverse group of filmmakers, creatives, and local community leaders, who will work tirelessly over the next month to view each and every film at the festival, and deliberate who will take home the awards.

Categories include;

Heart Of Mansfield Award (Best In Festival)
Working Class Voices Award
Women’s Voices Award
Best Documentary Short
Best Music Video
Best Director
Best Original Score
Best Performance In A Leading Role

The awards jury includes John Currie, of Beeston Film Festival; Jordan John, of working-class focused film studio Underscore Studios; and Natalie Gasson-McKinley MBE of the Federation of Small Businesses.
