First Mansfield Day to celebrate heritage and modern culture of town

Posted onPosted on 18th Jul

A new free family event, including live music and entertainment, is coming to Mansfield town centre in August.

Organisers Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID) said Mansfield Day on Saturday, 26th August 26th, from 10.30am to 4pm, would celebrate the town’s vibrant heritage and modern culture.

BID chief executive Jay Rowlinson said: “Mansfield Day is not just an event, it’s a celebration of our roots, our present, and our future.

“From tales of the legendary Robin Hood to the rhythmic beats of a drumming workshop, this is designed to showcase the diverse cultural tapestry that makes Mansfield a unique place to live, work, and play.”

In the Market Place and beyond there will be live music, Robin Hood puppet show, free Robin Hood hats, archery and the chance for children to win bow and arrow sets, stocks and wet sponges, and falconry displays with hawks and owls.

Characters Merida and Rapunzel from the Little Princess Palace Parties will also be making appearances on Stockwell Gate, bringing fairytale excitement to the day.

Mansfield BID said Mansfield Day would be an opportunity for people to come together as a community and appreciate all the things that make Mansfield such a special place to live.

Jay added: “Mansfield BID extends a warm invitation to everyone to join us in this grand celebration.

“We promise an unforgettable day filled with joy, discovery, and community spirit.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you on Mansfield Day. Let’s celebrate Mansfield, the town we cherish!”
