Family friendly adventure about water, dripping with fun

Posted onPosted on 2nd Oct

Mansfield and Sutton libraries are hosting a performance of Gulp! – billed as a moving, magical and interactive story, dripping with fun, unexpected twists and turns, and watery surprises – by The Bone Ensemble.

The show is suitable for all families and children age 7 years +. Tickets are £3 each for library members and £6 each for non-library members.

It is about Maya, who loves water – Swimming in the sea, splashing in her paddling pool. But one summer’s day, she gets sucked up the bathroom tap and along the water pipes.

Maya arrives in a new land and sets off on an adventure plunging into rivers and discovering oceans. She encounters flood and drought, meets fascinating people and creatures who live in and by the water and battles against unexpected villains.

There’s a paddling pool full of water and the audience gets the chance to make the show’s soundtrack with beatboxing and watery sound effects… and there is also a water pistol fight.

Gulp! is also a story about the beauty and challenges of water in an age of oil, plastic and climate change. A story about learning to care about the world, its people and its natural resources

It is at Mansfield Central Library, on Tuesday, 22nd October, at 10.30am, and at Sutton Library on the same day, at 3pm.
