Entries wanted for Harley art competition

Artists are being invited to submit their work for the opportunity to be shown in the award-winning Harley Gallery.

If selected, their work will be put on display from 6 August – 23 October 2022. There are also prizes up for grabs, including the main £2,000 grand prize, sponsored by The Harley Foundation.

The Harley Open Exhibition is a biennial competition that attracts a range of artists. Anyone can enter their work for consideration for the exhibition, whether you are professional or a hobbyist, experienced or just starting to make art.

The only restrictions are that artists should be from within 100 miles of the gallery, and entries must be original, wall-based art, made in the last two years.

Lisa Gee, director at The Harley Gallery, said: “What makes the Open so exciting is the range of work that we get to show. It can be really hard to get your art shown in galleries and this exhibition levels the playing field. You don’t need a huge portfolio or exhibition list to get involved – you just need to send us some photos of your art.

“This means we get a brilliant, diverse range of art to exhibit, and the Open has helped us to discover some really talented artists.”

Open Exhibition entrants have gone on to have their own solo shows, both at The Harley Gallery and in other exhibition spaces.

Entries to the Open Exhibition can be submitted until 8 July on The Harley Gallery website, with a further ‘real-life’ round of judging taking place in early August. Entries cost £10 each, and artists can submit up to two artworks.

The Harley Open Exhibition will be on show between 6 August and 23 October.
