Christmas Tree Festival first at Mansfield Museum

This year’s Christmas Market at Mansfield Museum will be even more attractive to visitors as it will have anew feature — the launch of the museum’s first Christmas Tree Festival.

And groups across the area are being urged to get involved.

Museum curator Liz Weston said: “We aim to turn the Arcade into an eye-popping avenue of themed Christmas trees — each one unique; each one created by people from our community. All of them will be seen by hundreds of visitors throughout the season.

“And that’s where you come in!

“Whether you’re a school, nursery, playgroup, church group, care home, Cub or Brownie troop, club or society — or simply a creative group of friends or a crafty individuals — we’d love to give your tree a yuletide home.

“If you would like to take part you’ll need to get your Santa hat on and decide how your tree will be special.

“Will it be based around re-cycling? Made from books? Dressed with knitted baubles? Traditional and cosy — or out-there avant-garde?”

The Christmas Market takes place on Thursday 28th, Friday 29th and Saturday, 30th November. The trees will remain in place throughout December.

Modest prizes will be awarded to the best trees. Closing date for registering for this free festival is Friday, 1st November.
