Choral society’s seasonal concert

Mansfield Choral Society have announced a new partnership with Mansfield Building Society – funding to buy new choir performance folders.

The Choral Society relaunched last year, following the celebration of its 40th anniversary in 2014. The Society chose a more modern logo and website.

In keeping with this approach the society decided it was time to move to new, modern performance folders and turned to the Mansfield Building Society Community Support Scheme for help.

Since 2007, Mansfield Building Society have donated £115,000 to a broad range of charitable groups in the area through their Community Support Scheme, which is designed to help a wide range of groups that do their bit to help local people.

MCS Chairman, Stephen Hewlett-Davies said ‘We are delighted by the generous gift from Mansfield Building Society, which has enabled us to buy new folders that are lighter and easier to hold for our members during performances. As a charitable organisation it is very difficult to be able to raise money for investments like this, so we are extremely grateful for their support.”

The folders will be used for the first time at a seasonal performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion, at St Mark’s Church, Mansfield, on Saturday, 19th March, at 7.30pm.

The concert will also feature Roger Bryan and Peter Siepmann performing the Duet for Organ by SS Wesley. Mr Bryan will also accompany the rest of the concert, which will be conducted by Mansfield Choral’s artistic director, Peter Siepmann.

Tickets are available from 01623 883277 or on the door and are priced at £12.50, with children under 16 years at £6.
