Celebrating Armed Forces Day in Mansfield

Posted onPosted on 12th Jun

People in the Mansfield area are being given the chance to show their support for the Armed Forces as part of a national celebration.

Mansfield’s Armed Forces Day, organised by Mansfield BID and supported by Mansfield District Council, will take place on Sunday, 25th June at the end of Armed Forces Week.

Mansfield BID chief executive Jay Rawlinson said it is one of the great days to say a big thank you to all Forces personnel, past and present.

Taking place in the heart of Mansfield on the Market Place, this family-friendly event will feature a parade of veterans, live entertainment, food vendors, and a variety of activities for people of all ages.

Following an opening ceremony, there will be live music from vintage dance band the Ashby ‘little’ Big Band and performances by The Bluebird Belles.

Attendees can also enjoy a variety of food, shop on a craft market, participate in activities, and look around a static display of Army vehicles, motorcycles, and a full-size Spitfire plane.

New for 2023 will be a climbing wall for visitors to test their strength and agility.

Armed Forces Week is a week-long annual celebration, starting on Monday, 19th June to recognise members of the Armed Forces community.

Nationally Armed Forces Day is on 24th June and among the activities during Armed Forces Week is Reserves Day on 21st June.
