Abbey hosts ceramic fair

PEOPLE can have a go on a potter’s wheel at the Earth and Fire International Ceramic Fair at Rufford Abbey Country Park.

Thomas Benirschke will be staging his magic four-handed potter’s wheel for potters of all abilities.

Nottinghamshire County Council hosts the 20th annual festival from 20th-22nd June, from 10am to 5pm.

The festival has been a mainstay of the international crafts calendar since 1994, promoting the best of studio ceramics.

Coun John Knight, culture committee chairman at the council, said: “The fair has grown with each year to become one of the top international ceramic fairs in the annual calendar.”

People can talk to more than 100 potters, buy everything from sculptures to egg cups, and browse trade stands.

International exhibitors from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Holland and France will join home grown talent from the UK, including potters Robin Welch, Mike Dodd, Lisa Hammond, David and Margaret Frith, Nigel Lambert and Ian Gregory.
