A new season and new shows at Palace Theatre

A new season and a new year approaches for the Mansfield Palace Theatre with a packed programme of entertainment.

The panto Sleeping Beauty runs from 27th November to 2nd January and for Christmas there is also Glisten, an immersive and interactive performance for babies.

Into the new year a wide range of shows starts with an expanded programme of comedy.  A Celebration Of Father Ted, with Joe Rooney, is on Saturday, 15th January, followed by A Bit Of A Carry On on Thursday, 20th January;  Phoney Fools And Horses on Friday, 21st January; P**sed Up Panto – Cinderella on Monday, 14th February, and The Comedy Store on Saturday, 5th February.

Variety shows coming up feature returning and new shows. Happy Days Are Here Again! is on Wednesday, 19th January; Circus of Horrors on Wednesday, 9th February; Dreamboys on Friday, 11th February; Count Arthur Strong: And This Is Me! on Wednesday, 16th February; Forbidden Nights on Wednesday, 2nd March and new show Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote on Tuesday, 22nd March.

A wide range of music is on offer with original and tribute artists as well as compilation sets.

These include Johnny Cash Roadshow on Friday, 7th January; Greatest Songs From The Movies on Thursday, 13th January; Bootleg Boss (a Bruce Springsteen tribute band) on Saturday, 22nd January; The Hollies Story on Sunday, 23rd January; The Legends Of American Country on Thursday, 3rd February; Jive Talkin’ perform The Bee Gees on Friday, 4th February; Jersey Beats with Oh What A Nite! on Sunday, 6th February; Green Date on Tuesday, 8th February; Freddie Mercury tribute Radio GaGa on Thursday, 10th February; Vampires Rock on Saturday, 12th February; Grimethorpe Colliery Band on Sunday, 13th February; Bond In Concert on Friday, 18th February; The Magic Of Motown on Thursday 24th and Friday, 25th February; UK Rock Show on Saturday, 26th February; The Ultimate Boy Band Party Show on Thursday, 3rd March; Hello Again – The Story Of Neil Diamond on Friday, 4th March; Roy Orbison and The Travelling Wilburys Experience on Saturday, 5th March; Herman’s Hermits on Wednesday, 23rd March, and Bowie Experience on Thursday, 24th March.

Panto will return after Sleeping Beauty’s Christmas run in the form of Cinderella during half-term on Monday, 14th February, and children’s ballet Pinocchio is on Tuesday, 22nd February.

Local amateur dramatics societies continue to feature on the Palace programme with Oklahoma! by Mansfield Operatic Society from Wednesday 9th to Sunday, 13th March; Oliver! by New Youth Theatre, from Tuesday 15th to Wednesday, 16th March and Fame by Expressions Academy on Saturday 26th and Sunday, 27th March.
