Were you hit by 2013 flooding?

Posted onPosted on 16th Dec

Financial support is now available for people whose homes or businesses were flooded between 1 April 2013 and 3 December 2013.

The flood support grant schemes provide up to £5,000 per property to pay for improvements that will help prevent flood damage in the future.

The schemes originally applied to properties affected by internal flooding between December 2013 and April 2014, but have now been extended to cover the entire 13-14 financial year. Unfortunately, any properties affected by flooding outside of this period will not be able to apply for support from these schemes.

Mansfield District Council will manage the schemes, with funding from central government.

In order to access the central government funding, Mansfield District Council must provide figures on how many properties were affected within the district during this time period.

If you think you may be eligible, please contact Emergency Planning at Mansfield District Council on 01623 463183 or email [email protected] by Wednesday 17 December 2014. After this date the Council will not be able to access any funding from these schemes.

Cllr Mick Barton, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at Mansfield District Council, said: “We’d urge anyone whose home or business in Mansfield district was flooded within this time period to contact us as soon as possible. There is funding available for a limited period which would help to protect their properties from similar situations in the future.”
