Volunteers bring festive smiles to Warsop community

Posted onPosted on 15th Dec

Warsop Parish Christmas Smile, a community initiative run by volunteers to bring festive joy to deserving families since 2018, has thanked people and organisations for their generosity in 2023.

It provides gifts and treat hampers to families in Church Warsop, Meden Vale, Sookholme, Spion Kop, Warsop, and Warsop Vale who need extra support over Christmas.

Hampers are also given to older members of the community.

This year the project appealed for donations of new toys, arts and craft sets, toiletries, books, and gift sets.

Nominations for help are sent to Warsop Parish Christmas Smile via schools, community organisations, and support groups.

Organisers said: “It’s our mission to sprinkle a little community magic at Christmas and to bring a smile to residents within Warsop Parish.”

Launched by Jen Cockcroft, Linda Davis and Karen Hardy in 2018, the project has thanked everyone who donated gifts and funding this year, including businesses, community groups, and residents.

Meden Vale Charity Shop, Warsop United Charities, Mansfield 103.2, Friends 500 Club, Warsop Parish Council; Councillors David Hughes, John Coxhead, Bethan Eddy and Jack Stephenson; the Inner Wheel Club of Warsop, Wincanton B&Q Worksop Distribution Centre, Hetts Lane Infant and Nursery School.
