Tree planting in park

Friends of Yeoman Hill Park at Mansfield Woodhouse were joined by nursery youngsters when they planted an Antarctic Beech tree.

It has been planted overlooking the 1930s Art Deco bandstand in the hope that it will create shade in coming years for
people using the park.

Children and staff from KidzGrove Nursery, Priory Road, watched the tree being planted and helped by filling in the hole.

The tree was funded by Greenwood Forest Partnership Trust, which has given the group a grant to increase the number of trees in the park to create additional shade.

Corinna Brown, vice-chair of the Friends of Yeoman Hill Park, said: “As a committed friends group, we welcome any support to improve the park for the people of Woodhouse and are looking forward to watching our new tree grow.”

The park is owned and managed by Mansfield District Council.
