Student wins market branding competition

Posted onPosted on 6th Sep

As part of the development of a new indoor market at Kirkby, West Nottinghamshire College marketing students were invited to submit their ideas for the chance to be involved in developing the Moor Market brand.

Fluid Ideas, the company behind the market’s name and branding, asked students to submit their brand and marketing ideas after briefing them on the vision and aspirations for the market.

Jasmine Mowbray was selected as the winner for her understanding of the brief and creative ideas.

She worked alongside Fluid Ideas to help shape and develop the Moor Market brand, gaining valuable agency experience.

“I had an amazing time working with Fluid Ideas on the Moor Market project and cannot wait for this great new space to be available in the Ashfield area,” she said.

“My work placement with Fluid has given me valuable experience which will help me when I start my marketing course at Nottingham Trent University in September!”

The new indoor market, located on Lowmoor Road, Kirkby will offer an open plan indoor trading area for seven market stalls and a new café. The vision for the new market is to attract artisan food, creative and craft traders to sit alongside the café offering fresh barista made coffee.

Coun Mathew Relf, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “It is fantastic that we were able to offer a local student valuable work experience as part of this project. Jasmine was able to experience first hand what’s involved in developing a brand, and it’s experience she can take with her as she starts university.

The Moor Market will be a fantastic addition to Kirkby town centre and provides an opportunity for individuals who are looking to start a new business, or established retailers that are looking to expand in a friendly, distinctive space. This is the first of many projects that will be delivered with the Towns Fund and Future High Streets Fund.”
