Independent Mansfield-based insurance broker Cowens Group has appointed Mark Wilson (pictured) as managing director of its general insurance division.

The move comes as Cowens, which employs more than 70 people, continues to grow following the company’s 50-year milestone last year.

Mark, who has more than 35 years’ experience in the industry, has been an integral part for more than 12 years, having been appointed to the board of directors in 2022 along with Karl Sutcliffe and Declan Shaw.

Group chief executive Paul Chaplin, who is stepping back from the day-to-day running of the business to concentrate on his clients and the strategic focus of the group, said: “Mark’s extensive experience and commitment to Cowens makes him the perfect choice to spearhead our corporate, commercial, and private clients insurance division services. His leadership will be instrumental in driving our growth strategy forward.”

Mark added: “The group has an exciting vision for the future and, coupled with our strong values, collaborative approach, and the solid reputation Cowens already enjoys, provides a strong foundation for growth and success.”

Together with David Carroll, managing director of Cowens financial services division, which also provides financial planning, mortgage solutions, and employee benefits services, Mark will focus on driving the group forward.
