Still time to support toy appeal

Posted onPosted on 6th Dec

Mansfield Building Society aims to ensure disadvantaged children in Mansfield and Warsop receive at least one gift this Christmas through its Toy Appeal.

The appeal can only accept donations that are new and in their original packaging, but staff at the building society will sort donations into age groups and wrap and deliver every gift via the local school network.

Having run a toy appeal in 2020 in conjunction with School’s Out Mansfield, the society is hoping to encourage even more donations this year.

Vickie Preston, head of HR at Mansfield Building Society, said: “Ultimately, we want to ensure that every child in the local area gets at least one gift this year.

“The stark reality is that if it wasn’t for the donations we hope to receive, and other Toy Appeals run locally, there would be a substantial number of children in the area who for reasons out of their control wouldn’t have a gift to open on Christmas Day.

“Many families are still feeling the financial effects of the pandemic, and we want to make it our mission to spread the magic of Christmas as wide as we can.”

The Mansfield is being supported by Mansfield BID, which has offered space to store and wrap donations before delivery.

λIf you would like to give a gift to the Mansfield Building Society Toy Appeal, leave donations at the society’s Mansfield, Sutton and Kirkby branches. The closing date  is 10th December.
