Staff from Academy Transformation Trust Further Education and Sutton Community Academy (pictured) broadened their language skills by attending a Polish for Beginners class.
Staff chose to attend to help welcome and communicate with any Polish children attending the school.
There are also a growing number of adult learners attending classes with limited English skills.
Georgina Lee said: I hope to use my new skills to try to communicate with a year nine boy in my class who is on the autistic spectrum and speaks very little English.
“Although I may not get a fluent conversation with him, to see him smile when I say ‘dobry robota’ and to hear him say thank you back is progress for him gaining confidence in class.”
