TV soap stars to play in charity match

EX-MANSFIELD Town youth player Jamie Walker and his dad Phil, a former star with Chesterfield, will be hosting their annual charity match – the 10th – at Mansfield Town FC’s One Call Stadium on 3rd May.

It will feature Jamie Walker & Simon Coleman’s Mansfield Town Legends and Guests against a Once Upon A Smile Soapstars/Celebs team. The event opens at noon with kick-off at 3pm.

There will be stars from Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Waterloo Road playing against former footballers for the Playback Enterprise Fundraising Trophy.

Pre-Match entertainment and activities will include Cantamus Girls’ Choir, face-painting, a bouncy castle and surprise appearances from various guests and children’s characters.

Jamie was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2005 and needed six months of chemotherapy and six months of radiation as he battled to beat the disease.

He was treated at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, and the Walkers say thank you to the Haematology Ward there by staging an annual charity football match.

Money raised at the event will also go to children’s charity Once Upon A Smile.

Celebrities who will be attending include: Emmerdale’s Danny Miller, Joe Gill, Luke Roskell, Ayden Callaghan and Hollyoaks’ Anthony Quinlan.

Tickets for the event can be bought at www.stagstickets.co.uk
