Thanks for swimmers

The Active Mansfield partnership thanked Paralympic swimmers Ollie Hynd MBE and Charlotte Henshaw for their contribution to Active Mansfield’s awareness campaign.

The initiative, Will You Take Up The Challenge?, encouraged people to get more active in a bid to tackle obesity, heart disease and type two diabetes in the district.

It provided people with tips and ideas of how they could live a healthier lifestyle.

Ollie, of Sutton, and Charlotte, of Mansfield, were the faces of the campaign and became aspirational role model.

At the gathering, the pair were also congratulated for their outstanding achievements at the World Swimming Championships.

They came away with four medals, a world record and three European records.

Ollie and Charlotte’s coach, Glenn Smith ,of Mansfield District Council, who recently received the prestigious Para-Coach of the Year Award, also attended.

Mayor Kate Allsop said: “We are lucky to have two great role models who train in our district. Ollie and Charlotte have done an exceptional job leading the Active Mansfield awareness campaign. We would like to wish them all the best for Rio 2016.”

The swimmers are set to start the qualifying stages for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil, in the spring.
