Sutton Swimming Club (SSC) members, some of whom were swimming for Nova Centurion, put in great performances at the East Midlands Regional Short Course Championships at Harvey Hadden Sports Village, Nottingham — winning medals and recording personal bests.

Clubs from across the region came together with swimmers who had swum qualifying times to compete at the two-day event.

Sutton swimmers taking part were: Amelia Roberts (14, Nova), Jack Patterson (14, SSC), Nathan Palin-Moakes (15, SSC), Jake Baugh (15, SSC), Harry McKeaney (15, SSC), Thomas Swales (13, Nova), Jared Collins (14, Nova), Evan Hawley (15, Nova), Liam Hill (15, Nova) and Tom Trueman (18, Nova).

Evan was the star performer, reaching three finals and winning three medals, including gold in the 100m breaststroke to be crowned regional champion, He also took silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

During the weekend SSC was also officially presented with the Swim England East Midlands Region Club of The Year Award.

The Sutton team — Jack, Jake, Nathan and Harry — claimed personal bests in the 200m team freestyle and 200m team medley.
Individual results on the Saturday were:

100m freestyle — Amelia; 200m freestyle — Thomas, Liam and Tom; 50m breaststroke — Amelia; 100m breaststroke — Jared and Evan; 100m butterfly — Thomas, Harry, Jared and Evan; 50m backstroke — Jake, Jared and Liam; 50m freestyle — Thomas, Jared, Harry, Jake, Evan and Tom.

Thomas and Evan reached the under-15 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke finals respectively.Tom reached the under-16 and over 50m freestyle final.

Individual results on the Sunday:

100m freestyle — Thomas, Jared, Jake, Harry, Evan, Liam and Tom; 50m breaststroke — Evan and Jared; 100m breaststroke — Amelia; 100m backstroke — Jared and Jake; 400m freestyle — Thomas; 200m breaststroke — Evan; 100 individual medley — Jared, Jake and Liam; 50m butterfly — Liam, Jared, Thomas, Harry, Evan and Tom.

In the 15 years and under category, Jared, Evand and Thomas reached the 100m individual medley, 200m breaststroke and 100m freestyle finals respectively. Tom reached the final of the 16 years and over 100m freestyle.
