Posted onPosted on 22nd Nov

After having to cancel its annual Major Oak meet in 2020, Mansfield Swimming Club returned to racing when it was able to host the event at the end of 2021 at Water Meadows.

A total of 42 swimmers achieved 182 personal bests over 231 swims.

Mansfield Swimming Club gained 92 top three places thanks to Charlotte Angell, Charlotte Baguley, Jessica Ball, Mason Brown, Brodie Butlin, Harry Cummings, Joby Evans, Freya Gibbons, Evie-Rose Hatton, Sophie Kotrikova, Jamie Love, Daniel Mason, Riley Matthews, Lewis Meade, Amelie Monger, Lewes Shorthose, Poppy Shorthose, Alfie Silver, Liam Smith, Isabelle Spencer and Daisy Stirland.

A spokesman said: “It was great to see all of our swimmers, including those who swam for the first time at a competition, taking part in the Major Oak event — cheering everyone, supporting each other and achieving so much over the weekend.

“Congratulations to those who achieved their first Notts ASA county qualification times for 2022 and congratulations to those achieving Notts ASA county qualification times to take part in the 2022 County Championships events.”

It is expected that regional qualification times will also have been achieved.

The club said it is always looking to encourage more young people to take up swimming and regularly holds trial sessions. Go to www.mansfieldswimmingclub.co.uk
