Success for young bowlers

Junior bowls members at South Forest Leisure Centre, Edwinstowe, finished the season by winning six out of a possible seven trophies in regional competitions.

In the East Midlands Junior Bowls League, the club team won both the league and the knockout shields.

David Williams accepted the League Mayors Shield and Michael Draper accepted the Knockout Shield on behalf of the team.

In the Notts County junior competitions, players from South Forest won the:
Under-18s triples (Nathan Richardson, Jack Brundritt and Michael Draper).
Under-16s triples (Nathan Richardson, Jack Brundritt and Liam Darby).
Junior pairs (Matthew Williams and Jack Williams)

At the Nottinghamshire School of Excellence, Matthew Williams was first and his brother, Jack, was third.

Both represented Nottinghamshire in the regional finals at Melton, where Matthew won.

The brothers also represented Nottinghamshire in the EIBA Inter-County Under-25s competition, beating Lincolnshire but losing to Yorkshire in the north of England final.

In the South Forest Club competitions, Matthew Williams won all three trophies, the league, the knockout and the target.

All members were presented with medals.

Retiring president Mrs Pat Oliver presented the trophies to Matthew.

Any juniors, boys and girls aged from eight to 18, are welcome to attend Saturday morning coaching sessions.

The next season starts on 3rd October and will run to April, 2016.
