Stags unveil plaque

A plaque has been unveiled at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium to mark it being the oldest football ground in the world to host professional football.

Manager Adam Murray revealed the plaque during a pre-season interview with Sky Sports News reporter Frazer Dainton.

The club has also placed a large sign across the top of the Quarry Lane Stand to show-off the notable record.

Originally known as Field Mill, the ground has been used for football since 1861, and as a cricket ground for a few years before that.

Murray said: “We are a club that bases itself on a lot of pride. There’s a lot of history to the club and one of my big aims when I took as manager was to bring the community to the club and take the club into the community.”
