Stags sign one keeper and release another

Posted onPosted on 19th Aug

Mansfield Town have announced the signing of Bulgarian Under 21 international goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov on a six-month loan from Nottingham Forest.

Evtimov is no stranger to manager Paul Cox, having appeared for the Stags in pre-season – keeping goal in the club’s 3-1 home victory over Notts County.

A product of the Forest Academy, Evtimov broke into first team circles at the City Ground in 2012 and has continued to make good progress as a young goalkeeper.

He was named LFE Apprentice of the Year at the 2012/13 Football League Awards in recognition of his tremendous work both on and off the field.

Evtimov, who has gained senior experience from loan spells at Ilkeston, Gainsborough Trinity and Nuneaton, has also received international recognition, having being capped by Bulgaria at Under 19 and Under 21 levels.

The 20-year-old is eligible to stay with us until Saturday 03 January 2015 and has been allocated the number 23 shirt.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that Cameron Belford, who was with the Stags on non-contract terms, has left the club.
