Stags sign loan striker

Mansfield Town have signed striker Daniel Carr on an emergency one-month loan from Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.

The 20-year-old is set to link up with the rest of the Stags’ squad later this evening at Prenton Park ahead of Mansfield’s match at Tranmere Rovers.

Carr, who hails from South London, is no stranger to this level, having made five appearances during a loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season.

He scored once – in a 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley on New Year’s Day.

The youngster, who qualifies to play for Trinidad & Tobago at international level, has also made three first team appearances for his parent club.

Born in Lambeth, Carr spent time with Reading between the age of 16 and 18, before gaining imperative senior experience during a loan spell at Dulwich Hamlet.

He bagged 25 goals for the South London outfit during the 2012/13 campaign, which helped them win the Isthmian League (Division One South).

After a short trial with Premier League giants Liverpool, he joined up with Huddersfield’s squad for a three-day training spell and subsequently put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract.

Carr is eligible to stay with the Stags until midnight on Monday 17 November. He has been allocated squad number 24.
