Two second half goals knocked Mansfield Town out of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening at windswept Boundary Park.

First Division Oldham Athletic ended the Stags’ hopes of an upset with a 2-0 win, but the visitors came close.

Matt Green twice went close to ending his and the club’s goal drought – deflecting a clearance over the bar and then being denied by the keeper – before Oldham’s late goals.

Danny Philliskirk and Dominic Poleon strick in the 70th and 78th minutes, the latter after standing water on the pitch aided the home side’s attack.

The Stags, without a win or goal in their last five matches, now have two League Two matches at One Call Stadium in four days against Hartlepool and Exeter.
