Stags beaten by injury-time winner

An injury time strike broke Mansfield Town’s hearts as they lost 1-0 to Yeovil at One Call Stadium on Saturday to leave them with a mountain to climb in the race f or t he play-offs.

The recalled Reggie Lambe twice went close in the first half. First his shot was saved by the diving keeper and reboun ded narrowly wide off James Baxendale. Then the wingman blazed over after bursting into the area from a corner.

At the other end Nathan Smith’s shot was blocked when well placed and from the follow-up Matt Dolan fired into the side netting.

The Stags almost made Yeovil pay for the let-off when Matt Green raced clear, but he was unable to get a shot away as the visitors’ defenders raced back to clear.

In the second half Lee Collins, unmarked inside the six-yard area, headed an Adam Chapman corner straight at keeper Alex Krysiak. Then Chris Clements fired low and wide when well placed on the edge of the area.

As the hail and wind increased Reggie Lambe curled a 25-yard effort against the bar and Baxendale heasded the rebound. Then substitute Adi Yussuf was crowded out as he burst into the area.

Thw Stags were made to pay when Ryan Dickson fired into the net in injury time after substitute Brandon Goodship puylled the ball back from the byeline.
