Samworth Church Academy’s Joe Czubkowski has won six successive climbing competitions this year, including at The British Mountaineering Councils Youth Climbing Series in Edinburgh to become number one in his age group (Youth B Male) and British champion.

The Mansfield teenager won all three rounds in the Peak area for the second successive year running to reach the main final.

Joe said: “I am delighted with my result. I was extremely proud when they announced that I had won.”

He has also won Rockfest and the Mammut Challenge.

Joe’s father, Antek, said: “To be 14 and become so expert in any sport is a great achievement. This is a result of Joe’s hard work, determination and talent. I am very proud of him.”

The academy are supporters of Joe’s rock climbing, and have facilities at the school for students to take part in the sport.

His tutor Brett Betts said: “As Joe’s form tutor and French teacher, I can stand testament to his strong work ethic and enthusiasm to succeed.”
