Pivotal month for the Stags

The Stags face Chesterfield in March in a big derby clash at the One Call Stadium.

THE next few weeks will be pivotal to Mansfield Town’s first campaign back in the Football League after a five-year absence.
The Stags know that a good run of results in March could secure their League Two status for next season after a learning curve on and off the pitch throughout the past seven months.
The month starts on Saturday 1st with a trip to Dagenham for the first time since the Stags went there on the last day of the season in 2008 knowing they had been relegated to non-league football. A miserable day for the hundreds of Mansfield fans who made the journey ended in a defeat.
Two matches at The One Call Stadium in four days see AFC Newport and York City make the trip to Mansfield before the Stags visit Northampton Town.
The big one in March is undoubtedly the return clash with Chesterfield. After winning 1-0 in September at the Proact Stadium, the Stags will be looking to make it a double over their arch local rivals on 22nd March. Kick-off has been brought forward to 1pm.
Unusually for this season, the month also sees two midweek league matches, the second a trip to Hartlepool before the month ends with a home clash against AFC Wimbledon.
