Murray remains focused on relegation battle

Delighted Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray celebrated his first home win, 1-0 over Stevenage, as the Stags’ full-time manager – and their first in seven matches – by refusing to get carried away.

The Stags moved out of the relegation zone thanks to half-time substitute Reggie Lambe’s 52nd minute winner.

But Murray said: Nothing has changed. We are still in a relegation battle all the way.

“Last weekend everyone hit the panic button as we had dropped below that dotted line.

“In that dressing room it feels like we have won the World Cup right now. But in 24 hours they will all come back down to earth and on Monday we will continue our fight to stay in the League.

“I want people to be proud of the team tonight and know they gave 200 per cent for the cause. That’s a big thing for me.

“It’s all about focus now.

“I couldn’t have asked for any more from the boys today. I thought their performance, effort, application and commitment for this football club was amazing and they have done themselves proud.

“We set up for the game to be scrappy today and it paid off.

“There wasn’t much football played but the pitch didn’t allow and we knew the game wouldn’t allow it. You have to reinvent yourselves for certain games.”
