Mansfield Town have signed midfielder Fergus Bell, subject to international clearance.
The playmaker has joined on a free transfer following a successful trial.
Born in London, Bell was at Wallsend Boys Club, Sunderland and Hibernian during his youth career, before linking up with Jerez Industrial (Glenn Hoddle’s Academy) in 2010.
During his year-long stay in Spain, Bell was a mainstay in midfield, contributing five goals in 27 appearances, earning him a short-term move to Barnsley.
Bell, who has since had stints with KRC Mechelen and K.S.K Heist in Belgium, and A.S. Monza in Italy, is relishing the chance to shine back in his home country.
Shortly after putting pen-to-paper, the 23-year-old said: “I’m absolutely over the moon [to have signed]. It’s a fantastic club from what I’ve seen, with a great manager and everyone at the club has been more than welcoming.
“I would describe myself as a creative midfield player. My main targets are to score as many goals as I can – I think I can bring that to this team.”
Supporters will have their first chance to see the Stags’ latest summer signing in action in tomorrow’s pre-season match with Notts County at One Call Stadium. Kick-Off is at 3pm.
