Mansfield Town 1-1 Cheltenham Town

Mansfield Town conceded a late equaliser for the second successive match in a game of two spectacular goals.

Verdaine Oliver’s 30-yard looping solo goal looked to have given new Stags’ manager Adam Murray a first win in charge.

But substitute Kotwica struck an equally unstoppable volley from 25 yards two minutes from time.

Loan winger Junior Brown excelled for the Stags in the first half and central defender Ryan Tafazolli starred in the defence.

But the Stags, playing 4-3-3 with striker Rakish Bingham dropped to the bench, failed to create enough chances and then defended too deep in the second half.

Afterwards new manager Adam Murray said: “At the minute we don’t know how to win a football match. We are probably lacking a bit of leadership and a bit of character at times. When we are going through the rough periods, people have to step forwards.

“It is disappointing that for the second week we have conceded late from a restart. It’s not good enough.

“I am not someone who will take second best and I definitely won’t take any passengers. Players have to get on board and do what I ask them to. Come to the party or go and find another party.

“At the minute the boys are giving me everything.

“I know I have to be patient. People must understand we are coming off a nine-game run without a win and turning things round slowly. These boys have to learn to win and at the minute they don’t know how.”
