Mansfield Building Society’s support for Mansfield 10k

Posted onPosted on 28th Jul

In three weeks, the town centre of Mansfield will be brimming with runners for the second Mansfield 10k. A big part of the community involvement will by the Mansfield Building Society, which will be providing numerous volunteers.

Staff have up to two days paid leave to help organisations and groups in the local area through its Work In The Community scheme. The Mansfield also offers a Community Support Scheme, which gives financial awards of typically up to £500 to local community groups.

The Mansfield 10k route will pass the door of the Clumber Street branch, where the Society has been since 1958, making the community event very close to home.

Area operations manager Tara Nicholson will be giving up her time to travel from her home in Derbyshire as one of many volunteers on the day.

She said: “We pride ourselves on our commitment to local people and supporting the Mansfield 10k is another way for us to give something back to the town. As a regional building society, our customers are the key to our success and maintaining strong relationships with the community through our branches is hugely important to us.”

As well as providing financial support and willing volunteers to the event, the Mansfield Building Society is also providing participants. Marketing manager Dale Twigger will be taking part in the Mansfield 10k for the first time.

Dale said: “I’m fortunate enough to be able to run to and from work as I am a local resident and we have a shower at work. My aim is to try and complete the course in under 50 minutes, and raise as much money as I can for Reach Learning Disability.”

The Mansfield 10k takes place on Sunday, 21st August , and there are a limited number of places for this year’s event. Places are running out quickly, so we advise booking your place in the event sooner rather than later.
