Luton Town 3-0 Mansfield Town

Luton’s seventh successive home win took them second as Mansfield lost for the first time in three games under caretaker manager Adam Murray.

After the game Murray said he would decide over the weekend whether to apply for the job as manager. Chairman John Radford has said he is ready to interview six candidates next week.

The Stags were well beaten, but gifted the first two goals. However, Luton also struck the woodwork twice.

Paul Benson opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Sascha Studer in the Mansfield goal saved his initial effort.

Shaun Whalley struck twice in five second half minutes to clinch victory for the home side. His first was a cross that looped over the keeper, his second a terrific drive.
