Luke Jones returns for third spell at Stags

Mansfield Town have revealed that their first summer signing is centre-back Luke Jones, who was part of the Conference title-winning team.

The 27-year-old jas joined the club on a free transfer, having chosen to leave Stevenage at the end of last season.

Jones will be fondly remembered by Stags’ supporters for the crucial role that he played during the club’s Conference Premier title-winning campaign.

The centre-back contributed eight goals from 32 appearances, including winning goals against Woking and Tamworth in the latter stages of the campaign.

This will be his third spell at One Call Stadium, following a previous stint with the club in the 2009/10 season.

Shortly after putting pen-to-paper on a contract, Jones told the club’s website www.mansfieldtown.net: “I’m buzzing really and it’s brilliant to be back.

“I’ve got such fond memories of the place – especially the year that we won the championship, so I’m delighted to be back and raring to go.”

Meanwhile, manager Paul Cox added: “I was surprised to be able to capture him [because of interest from other clubs], but it’s a quality signing to the spine of our side. It’s a really positive signing for us.”
