The latest graduates (above) from Oak Tree Leisure Centre’s popular More Gymnastics Academy programme receive certificates at a ceremony attended by parents and other well-wishers.

The British Gymnastics-backed academy at the Mansfield centre has grown in popularity since the visit of Olympian and European champion gymnast Ellie Downie last year.

To satisfy demand for places, Oak Tree runs a series of classes for children, from pre-school under-fours up to the age of 11.

Coaches also run an Advanced Proficiency course for children who are more experienced in the sport.

Carolyn Hallam, sports and community development manager, said: “2018 was a great year for our More Gymnastics Academy.

There’s been tremendous growth in interest in the sport, and it has been reflected in the numbers signing up for our courses.

“We are always looking to make sessions as inclusive as possible, and attract children from all sectors of the community.”
