Fine away win for the Stags

Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray praised the professionalism of his players after a 3-1 win at windswept Barnet on Saturday.

Both sides finished with 10 men as the Stags fought back superbly from the disappointing midweek home defeat against Exeter.

Reggie Lambe rewarded the visitors for a dominant first half display with a fine 31st minute finish after earlier Craig Westcarr might have given them the lead.

The keeper, who had denied Westcarr, repeated his heroics to keep out a Chris Clements curler.

Barnet’s Josh Clarke was red-carded before half-time for a second yellow card and the Stags looked to have clinched victory when Matt Green made it 2-0 on the hour.

Green was denied a third by the keeper and substitute John Akinde won a penalty, drawing keeper Brian Jensen into the foul, and converted the spot kick to set up a tense finish.

It got more nail-biting for the Stags when Chris Clements was sent off for a second yellow card.

However, the Stags sealed victory two minutes from time after a great run by Matty Blair led to a goalmouth scramble and a Nelson own goal.

Afterwards boss Murray said the Stags coped well in the second half playing against the strong wind.
