Fine away point for Stags

Mansfield Town battled to a good 0-0 draw at fellow promotion chasers Portsmouth on Saturday – their second away match in five days and their second clean sheet.

Central defender Ryan Tafazolli again starred at the heart of the defence as the visitors matched the high-flying home side. Lee Collins and newcomer Blair Adams also did well.

Manager Adam Murray showed his attacking intent by sending on substitutes Nathan Thomas and Ade Yussuff late-on to try to win the match.

He would also have been pleased with his side’s ability to retain possession and keep their shape under pressure from a top-two side.

In a game of few chances, Stags keeper Brian Jensen’s flying save to keep out Ben Davies’ long-range effort proved crucial – his only save of the match.

Connor Chaplin’s late shot for the home side was also deflected narrowly wide by Adams.

On Friday Stags full back Liam Marsden, who has featured in one game this season, joined National League Guiseley on a month’s loan.
