Big road race to return

The Mansfield 10k road race is to return for a second year in August.

The event, created to succeed the former Mansfield Half Marathon, brought together local running groups, amateur enthusiasts and fancy dress runners last year.

This year’s event, on Saturday, 21st August, has an improved route that will see runners complete two laps through the traffic-free streets of Mansfield town centre.

The event is being organised by local charity Reach Learning Disability, sponsored by McDonald’s, Slimming World and Mansfield Building Society, and supported by Mansfield District Council.

Reach, which has bases around Nottinghamshire including Mansfield, supports people with learning difficulties to reach beyond expectations.

It will be working alongside Nottinghamshire agency Perfect Motion to organise the event.

Steve Shatwell, chief executive of Reach Learning Disability said: “Last year it was fantastic to see so many people taking part and supporting on the streets of Mansfield and we are sure that with improvements to the route, this year’s event will be even better.”

There will be a limit of 1,000 places. To register and for further information go to www.mansfield10k.co.uk
