Posted onPosted on 3rd Jul

The Armchair Club, a Mansfield-based group that helps local sports people, held its third annual charity golf day at Coxmoor GC.

The sell-out event was boosted by sponsorship from Vertu Honda Mansfield as 112 golfers competed for the Armchair Club Challenge Trophy.

There was an opportunity for players to win a new Honda Jazz for a hole-in-one on the par-three second hole, but despite near misses the prize was unclaimed.

The fundraising event, which raised more than £2,000. for the charity, was won by The Ravenshead, captained by local architect David Formon (pictured holding the trophy) who scored 98 points in a keenly-contested 4bbb competition, with all to count on the last hole.

Coxmnoor captain Sean Musson attended the prize-giving with Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest Amy Bielby.

Armchair Club member and organiser Bill Taylor thanked all the sponsors and competitors and Coxmoor GC.

The Armchair Club was formed in 1982 by local business people and has donated more than £200,000
