DEBUTANT goalkeeper Lewis Price was full of praise for his new teammates after Mansfield Town’s 3-0 win over Rochdale.
Price, signed on an emergency seven-day loan 24 hours earlier after injuries to Alan Marriott and Ian Deakin, played his part in the Stags’ fourth successive win that catapulted the side to within six points of the play-offs.
A Welsh international with Premier League experience at Derby County, Price has not played first-team football for more than a year as understudy to Julian Speroni at Crystal Palace.
He said: “The boys did brilliantly, their work-rate, effort and quality on the ball meant I didn’t have too much to do.
“I had a bit of lady luck on my side a couple of times.
“I am just pleased to be here and to have some football.
“I have settled in straight away and that says something about the lads here that that has happened.
“They are a good set of lads and if they keep playing like this who knows what will happen?
“I want to play football. I have still got a year left on my contract at Palace but I havn’t played too many games.”
