Shopmobility extended to bus station

Posted onPosted on 28th Apr

Mansfield’s Shopmobility service for people with a temporary or permanent physical disability has been extended to Mansfield’s bus station.

The service, which is in addition to the council’s Shopmobility scheme at Walkden Street, is available from 10am to 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and costs £3.50 for the day.

Advanced booking up to 24 hours ahead is essential and you will need to have already registered with the scheme.

To register for Shopmobility, visit the office at Walkden Street car park on level 1a with proof of identity and complete a registration form. A membership card will then be posted to your home address. Once registered, you can book a vehicle.

Portfolio holder for economic regeneration, Coun Kate Allsop said: “We are delighted to extend the Shopmobility service to the bus station. This is a welcome addition to the scheme we offer at Walkden Street.

“We listened to the concerns of people with mobility difficulties and worked closely with the bus station to come up with a solution. The service will enable anyone who has a disability which limits their ability to walk, to travel around the town centre directly from the bus station.”
