Shedding locks to help children’s charity

A Blidworth woman is aiming to celebrate her 25th birthday by raising £2,200 for a charity that helps young people who lose their hair due to cancer treatment.

Hazel Bowen said she has decided to donate the majority of her hair to the Little Princess Trust on 29th July, “which also happens to be my birthday!”

Hazel added: “I first heard of the amazing work the Little Princess Trust does when I got to thinking about the impact cancer treatment has on young people’s hair and how that makes them feel, and began researching help out there for them and came across this special charity.

“Not only does the charity support young people who have lost hair due to cancer treatment, they also support those who have lost their hair due to other conditions, focusing on elevating the emotional and physical impact hair loss has by providing real hair wigs from hair donations.

“Each wig requires a minimum of 7 inches of hair and costs £550 to make. I would love to be able to know I have helped provide a wig for a young person in need.”

You can make a donation on her JustGiving page here.
