Samworth Church Academy has been named School of the Year at the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce Awards 2014.
Vice-principal Ian James and teacher Rebecca Jephson received the award.
Mr James said: “We would not have won without our fantastic staff, governors and sponsors. With their continued support the future for Mansfield’s fantastic young people is most definitely bright. We thank all the businesses who have given their time to help our students prepare for their future lives.”
Rebecca Jephson said the Academy has strong ties with the business community and use their expertise to inform students about business and work life.
“We are over the moon to have been recognised for our efforts in engaging businesses in education and in preparing our students for their lives beyond school,” she said.
The award was sponsored by OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations) and South Nottinghamshire Academy, South Wolds Academy and Sutton Community Academy ATT Trust were also nominated.
