Sammy The Stag will be one of hundreds of teddies thrown onto the ice for the Fountaindale SEN School at an Elite League ice hockey game on Saturday
The Sheffield Steelers game at the Motorpoint Arena against Coventry will host the Fountaindale Teddy Bear Toss, when fans from both sides are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and throw them onto the ice when Steelers score their first goal.
The toys will be donated to youngsters at the Mansfield-based SEN school.
Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, who are sponsors and community partners of both the Stags and the Steelers, have committed to raise £50,000 intwo years for Fountaindale, which helps youngsters aged between three and 19 with physical and sensory needs.
Director Rachel Hall said “it’s great that Mansfield Town are supporting us and will be represented on the ice on Saturday.”
In December 2013 a Teddy Bear Toss that took place in Calgary resulted in 26,000 teddy bears thrown onto the ice.
