Raising money for charity on way to pageant final

Posted onPosted on 3rd Jul

A Mansfield woman is raising hundreds of pounds for charity as she aims to gain a place in an international pageant in the USA.

Chloe-Rose Adkin, 20, has already reached the final of Miss Galaxy – UK for the second successive year after finishing first runner-up in 2020.

Now Chloe, who is Miss Nottingham Galaxy, is raising money for the British Heart Foundation as well as the pageant’s chosen charity, The Christie Charitable Fund, supporting the work of a cancer centre.

She decided to support the heart foundation because her grandfather suffered a cardiac arrest several years ago.
When he was discharged from hospital he was helped at a cardio gym to build a healthier lifestyle.

“That inspired me to fundraise for the British Heart Foundation and heart awareness is my platform,” Chloe-Rose said.

She has run two pro-active campaigns this year to support her fundraising. The first encouraged people to get involved and put their heart first by exercising for 30 minutes every day in February, using workouts donated by fitness professionals.

In March she went without chocolate for the month and believes that her campaigns have helped herself as well as others to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Chloe said: “I am honoured to be returning to the UK Galaxy stage for the second year running as Miss Nottingham Galaxy after placing first runner-up in the 2020 finals.

“Although Covid has made this year’s preparations difficult I have still managed to support my local community and raise £1,383, so far this year, for my chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation, and UK Galaxy Pageant’s chosen charity, The Christie.

“I am so excited and can’t wait to get back on stage. The past year has been negative for everyone, so it is nice to have something to look forward to.

“It was a complete shock to be first runner-up last year… it was like winning and an amazing boost.
“I am ready and raring to go again.”

Chloe “caught the pageant bug” after finishing third at the 2015 Miss Mansfield Outstanding Teen competition. In 2018 she reached the top 20 at Miss England.

The winner of Miss Galaxy – UK, who will be revealed at the finals in November, will travel to the USA, alongside contestants from all over the world, to compete in the Miss Galaxy International final in summer 2022.

Chloe is being sponsored by several local businesses, including PA, lighting and staging company MC Productions, Mansfield beauty salon Lucy Lashes and Richard Murrill Pageant Sponsorship.
