A charity duck race organised by Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield, raised £2,539.79 for Mansfield charity Jigsaw Support Scheme and the academy’s Student Opportunities fund.

The race in Titchfield Park, Mansfield, saw 1,000 yellow ducks sponsored with donations of prizes from 21 businesses. Around 400 people attended.

Mr Ian James, vice-principal, said: “It was a fabulous afternoon. Two great causes will benefit.”

Businesses that donated prizes included Mansfield’s Odeon Cinema, The Palace Theatre, Currys, Pure Gym Fitness, Mansfield Super Bowl, McDonald’s, Boots, Sainsbury’s, B&Q, Classic Hair & Beauty, Asda, Aldi, Thornton’s, Wilkinson’s, Marks & Spencer, The Perfume Shop, Beales, Claire’s Accessories and The Body Shop. First prize of an iPad Air was donated by CSE.
