Peafield Lane Academy in Mansfield Woodhouse has won a Pupil Premium award of £1,000.

Schools minister Mr David Laws said it was one of the most improved schools in the country for the attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils since 2011.

He said: “It is clear that you and your staff have provided your disadvantaged pupils with a good start in life and prepared them well for secondary school.”

Head Gary Walker said: “The school is delighted to receive this recognition of the work that has been put into the last few years to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can achieve their full potential.”

The awards are designed to highlight the work that schools do for disadvantaged pupils and reflect overall high standards of education throughout.

Pupil Grace Haslam (10), said: “This school is awesome for everyone because the teachers are kind and everyone learns lots.”
