THE Lib Dem Leader on Ashfield District Council, Coun Jason Zadrozny, said if Ashfield got its fair share of £77,000,000 given to Nottinghamshire County Council to repair broken roads and pavements, it would end the area’s pothole problems.
The Government has pledged £6billion nationally to sort our damaged roads.
Coun Zadrozny said, “This is excellent news for Ashfield, especially after the recent freezing conditions and snow. By our estimates, this should fix every pot-hole and resurface every road that needs to be sorted in Ashfield. The state of our roads is an issue that comes up on virtually every door we knock on.
“This investment is something we have long called for and is a welcome late Christmas present for everyone. I will be working hard to ensure that the County Council make the most out of this much needed investment and the money is not squandered.
“The Council has to act swiftly and my team and I in County Hall will be working hard to ensure we get our fair share. Studies show that the state of our roads has a huge effect on our economy.”
