Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has welcomed NHS England’s announcement that the Friends and Family test is to be expanded, allowing more patients to give their views on care and treatment received.

The test now includes acute outpatients, daycase patients and minor injuries units, as well as ambulance and patient transport services and dental practices.

Lisa Dinsdale, deputy director of nursing and quality at the trust, said: “The trust has received favourable results since the test’s launch in 2013, testament to the outstanding care our staff are committed to provide.”
Positive comments received recently include:

‘All the doctors, nurses, carers and hostesses made my wife’s stay in the maternity ward exceptionally comfortable. Every single member of staff we met was so helpful.’

‘I was brought into A&E after I cut my hand doing some DIY. Everyone from the receptionist, the nurse, carers and doctors were helpful and caring. I’m happy with the service I received at King’s Mill and would recommend it to family and friends.’

‘The staff on the ward really cared for my elderly frail mother, who had fallen at home. They staff helped her to eat her meals, assisted her to have a bath, and generally aided her recovery. I was very impressed.’ with the standard and level of care we received.’

Lisa Dinsdale added: “Enhancing people’s experience of our services is a key goal of improvement initiatives.

“The Friends and Family test plays an important role in assessing expectations, experience and satisfaction. Feedback not only provides us with the tools to focus on areas of improvements, but to celebrate areas where care is outstanding. I would encourage everyone to participate in this test.”
