Play area transformation is praised

Posted onPosted on 11th Nov

Improvement works have given a play area at Morven Park, Kirkby, a new look.

The park, located between School Street and Welbeck Street, has seen a new inclusive roundabout and toddler unit installed, along with improvements to the play trail. A new seesaw and springie will be also be installed soon.

The project has totalled more than £22,000, all of which has come from Section 106 Housing Developer funds.

Ashfield District Council said £2.6m will have been invested into parks and green spaces across Ashfield by March 2020. The council has put in £600,000 across the district with the rest coming from grants, partner funding and contributions from housing developers. Improvements include new play equipment, art installations and scooter parks.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader, said: “We are committed to investing in our parks and green spaces. Ashfield has some of the best parks in the county, which we know are loved by residents. We want to continue to provide excellent outdoor spaces. The work we’ve carried out already and our plans over the next few years demonstrate this.”
